Hearing the news today about Tim Russert really caught me off guard. He is one of the few guys I really liked on TV news. It caught me in the same way that it did when Princess Diana and John Denver died... too sudden... too young. Such a likeable, regular guy. Sad news...
Russert was one of those few personalities that you just knew you'd like if he were actually your friend or colleague.... a regular guy. This was reinforced by all the tributes I heard tonight by numerous newsfolk. He seemed like the real deal. Everyone liked the guy.

Rock-n-Roll Marathon 2008
Last week, the BigFellas played again at the Rock-n-Roll Marathon here in San Diego. Nothing better than getting up at 4:30 AM following attending a wedding the night before and lugging heavy equipment for a show. Seriously though, I love playing for this race. 20,000 smiling people all having a good time and running as fast as they can away from the noise we're making. :) Actually, for about an hour and a half or so, it is pretty much a sea of people and the energy level is very high and very positive. Much fun!
